Jwaneng Galaxy Football Club Formation History
After a number of years trying to get Jwaneng football to compete with other towns / cities in Botswana and major villages it became apparent that with a small town as Jwaneng which had so many teams, chances were limited to be successful. It was with this background that the leadership of the different teams in Jwaneng decided to come together to and have one formidable side. A Memorandum of Agreement was formulated and signed off after all parties were satisfied with it.
It is therefore now history that Jwaneng Galaxy Football club came into being after Jwaneng Comets FC and Debswana Youngsters FC (which had already had Cosmos Blizzards and Blue Diamonds coming together to form a single team) united to have one team that would be assisted and managed to accelerate its participation in the premier league within a season. This was decided with the knowledge that a successful brand can easily attract sponsorship which would help sustain the team in the long run. The premiership status would therefore be an ideal platform that could be utilised by the sponsors to market themselves. The Debswana Youngsters status was left for a development side which will feed the senior team (Jwaneng Galaxy FC) which assumed the status of Jwaneng Comets FC.

Jwaneng Galaxy FC Performance History
With the effort that the management, supporters, sponsors, players and the technical team put in the first season of the formation of Jwaneng Galaxy FC, the team managed to qualify for the premier league in 8 months, with two games left to complete the season. On the way to the championship of the First Division South League, the team lost only three (3) games, drew six (6) and won thirteen (13). The team finished with 45 points with six (6) points ahead of the second placed team, which finished at 39 points.

One can attribute this success to the Leadership from the Debswana diamond mine that assumed the advisory role and guided the committee running the team, the technical team that includes the coach, the players who put the maximum effort in the hard conditions within the fiercely competitive First Division leagues. In addition, the contribution by the supporters, sponsors from the Jwaneng business community supported the team to achieve its mandate.
